REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARNEGARA — The tourist area of the Dieng plateau in Banjarengah Regency, Central Java, was visited by tens of thousands of tourists during the holiday of Lebaran 2024. Rainy weather conditions were judged not to decrease the interest of tourists to visit.

“Thank God, the frequent rainy weather conditions have no effect on tourists' visits to Dieng during this Lebaran holiday,” said the Head of the Department of Tourism and Culture (Disparbud) of Banjarengah Regency, Tursiman, Monday (15/4/2024).

Tursiman said that on Saturday (13/4/2024) 16,500 tourists visited Dieng and 15,800 people on Sunday (14/4/2024). During the Lebaran holiday period, he said, this temporary tradition recorded a total of about 61 thousand tourists visiting Dieng.

Arrangement

The tourist area of the central Dieng plateau is laid out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) from 2023. Targeted structuring of infrastructure and means of supporting transport. Tursiman said that the arrangement of the Dieng tourist area has entered the second phase, which is targeted to be completed by July 2024.

According to Tursiman, the structuring project was temporarily halted during Lebaran holidays in order to welcome tourists. “We created alternative routes for tourists because the tourist location has not changed, only the landscape. So, no problem,” he said.

Tursiman expects the structuring project to add to the appeal of the Dieng tourist area. In the future, he also hopes that there will be improvement of road access to Dieng, especially from the direction of Wonosobo District, as it is currently still somewhat narrow.

“We are making every effort to propose that there be road construction or maybe an upgrade of the road to Dieng,” Tursiman said.

According to Tursiman, the presence of Batang toll gate can facilitate access for tourists from Jakarta and Semarang, compared to having to pass through Bawen. However, he hopes there will be an improvement of the road connecting Batang with Dieng.

“Maybe we hope in the future that there will be a big road there (Batang-Dieng). If the road is viable, it already exists, but it is still necessary to improve its class, especially in the Batang area. If the one in the Banjarnagar area is good,” Tursiman said.
