REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- The Regional Governing Council of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) began exploring political communication with former Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa regarding the 2024 Regional Elections of East Java Province (Jatim).
“Now this is the only name that still appears is Bu Khofifah. That's why we started conducting investigations with him,” said DPW PKS Chairman Jatim Irwan Setiawan met in Surabaya, Tuesday (2/4/2024).
His party has even sent a team to communicate with Khofifah, but has not discussed supporting a specific candidate.
Kang Irwan, according to his relatives, confirmed that his task at the regional level is to conduct political communication with the figures whose names are mentioned to fight in the 2024 Jatim election contest.
Therefore, he said, if in the near future the names of other candidates appear, his party will also conduct communication and investigation related to the Jatim elections.
“We are given two tasks from the DPP regarding the elections. First, political communication with future candidates, then secondly, networking of member elements and structures,” he said.
“We are currently moving in that direction. Later we propose two names, both from inside and outside the party,” added the former two-term Jatim member of parliament.
During his tenure as the number one person in the Jatim PKS, Kang Irwan admitted that he had met Khofifah Indar Parawansa twice in the framework of national contacts at Grahadi State Building.
That is, he continued, the communication established during this time was very good and fluid even though in the Jatim 2018 elections his party did not support Khofifah-Emil Dardak.
“We will resume communication after Ramadan. All this time they are still busy with their respective agendas, especially there are elections and presidential elections,” the young politician said.
The Jatim local elections will be held on 27 November 2024 and will be conducted simultaneously with the elections in 38 districts/cities in the local province.
