REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- The convicted of hate speech, Ahmad Dhani Prasetyo will be transferred to Surabaya Class I Detention Center in Medaeng, Sidoarjo, East Java. The Gerindra politician was planned to be moved from Cipinang Prison in Jakarta, to Surabaya, East Java, on Wednesday (Feb 6) afternoon.
"I just got the information from the Surabaya District Attorney about the transfer of Ahmad Dhani to Surabaya. He said it will be done today, but the time is not confirmed yet," said Head of Administrative Subsection and Detention Equipment at the Surabaya Class I Detention Center, Widha Indra Kusuma Wijaya, confirmed on Wednesday (Feb 6).
In a letter received from the Surabaya District Attorney, the Prosecutor requested permission to transfer Ahmad Dhani from the East Jakarta Class I Detention Center to the Surabaya Class I Detention Center or Medaeng Detention Center. Later, he will be detained in Medaeng Prison during a trial at the Surabaya District Court in a different case.
"That's for the second case of Ahmad Dhani (he said 'idiot' towards a group in video)," said Widha.
Dhani will undergo the inaugural trial of defamation cases involving a video of him saying 'idiot' against a group of people. The trial will be held at the Surabaya District Court on Thursday (Feb 7).
It was the second case that ensnared Dhani for his comments in social media. Previously, he had been sentenced to one and a half year in prison related to his tweets.
