REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Minister for Public Works and Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, has warned Lebaran travellers to watch out for traffic jams along several segments of the Trans Java toll road. The first point is Kertasari toll gate in Tegal.

"This toll road has been completed, and is temporarily free," said Hadimuljono in Monas, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.

The second traffic jam-prone area was the Kali Kuto bridge in Kendal. The Minister expressed the hope that construction of the bridge would be completed two days before Lebaran. This bridge connected to the Batang-Semarang toll road, which would be opened on June 8, he said.

The one toll that would be functional was the Salatiga-Colomadu toll. "The Kalieng Kent bridge cannot be utilised for this year's homecoming Lebaran travellers because the construction has not been completed yet. So we made a road under the bridge so travellers do not need to exit the toll road to go directly to Solo. The Solo-Ngawi toll road is in better condition," he said.

Hadimuljono said a number of rest areas had been readied for use on the Trans Java toll road. "I checked the water quality from the wells drilled about 100-120 metres deep. There are also dozens of toilets. One parking lot area can accommodate a minimum of 100 cars. So all I think is ready," he said.
