REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Pertamina said it will set up 31 fuel filling stations (SPBU) and other supporting facilities along the Trans Java toll road. It will be done before Christmas and New Year celebrations.
"Pertamina will build 31 units of Pertamax kiosk and 19 mobile dispensers in rest areas along the toll road," Vice President of Corporate Communication of the state-owned oil and gas company Adiatma Sardjito said here on Friday.
The toll road is ready for operation linking Jakarta and Surabaya in East Java after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially commissioned seven sections of the toll road on Thursday.
Adiatma said Pertamina supports the operation of the Trans Java toll road, by providing oil fuel service for the toll road users during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. He said there are 57 rest areas and parking bays in the Trans Java between Merak and Pasuruan including 39 rest areas of type A (rest areas with SPBU) and 18 rest areas without SPBU.
Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has reiterated that the Trans-Java toll road will make the mobility of people and logistics easier and cheaper. However, he let the people choose whether they will use the Trans-Java toll road or the northern coast route.
"What we want is, with this toll road, the mobility of logistics and people would become faster, easier, and cheaper," Jokowi stated at the launch of the Trans-Java toll road section Pemalang-Batang and Batang-Semarang on Kalikuto Bridge here on Thursday.
Jokowi added that the toll road is expected to integrate the development of an industrial area, special economic zone, and tourism to encourage investment and open more job opportunities. The toll road will be free for the public until January 1, 2019.
"For regions along the toll road that have a tourism area, it could be developed further to attract more visitors," he remarked.
