REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) behaviour still can't be criminalized because the government does not have enough rules related to the activities. It makes House of Representatives (DPR) re-initiate to create extension of adultery crime in Criminal Code (KUHP), which will ultimately criminalize LGBT.
Director of Center for Human Rights Studies and Education UHAMKA Manager Nasution said currently there is a legal vacuum to prosecute those who related to LGBT. He assessed this behaviour is very deviant for Indonesian people and also disturb the public.
He said with the absence of legal which still happen right now, government, especially president can issue Lieu of Law (Perppu). Maneger said the president should use his power to expand adultery article through the Perppu.

"However, it can be realize if only the president is brave enough, and if not, our last hope only to DPR," said Maneger on Friday (26/1).
Maneger said the Perppu is needed because DPR still discuss LGBT criminalization quite tough. In addition, the discussion may not be final even though it almost all factions at House of Representatives signaled to broaden the meaning of adultery and punishment for LGBT behavior on the Draft Law on the Revision of the Criminal Code .
He also asserted the certainty of expansion adultery crimes and LGBT must be finished immediately. "The nation and human civilization really need it," he remarked.
