REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) moved illusive House Speaker Setya Novanto (SN) from the Medika Permata Hijau private hospital to state-owned hospital Cipto Manungkusumo (RSCM) here on Friday.
After checking the health condition of the suspect SN this afternoon for conducting CT scan procedures, a decision was made to transfer him to the RSCM, speaker of the anti-graft agency Febri Diansyah noted here on Friday.
SN, the graft suspect in the electronic-identification (E-ID) card project, was treated at the Medika Permata Hijau Hospital after being injured in a traffic accident in Permata Hijau, South Jakarta, on Thursday night.
"The decision was made after taking into account the further process of investigation to evaluate whether further legal action needs to be taken, including transferring him for further treatment to RSCM.
Doctor at the Medika Permata Hijau Bamanesh Sutarjo, who treated SN, said his patient had suffered an injury on his head and scratches on his neck and right arm.
Sutarjo said SN was still weak, but the medicine he had given the night before had already worked.
At 6 a.m. local time on Friday, Dr Johannes Hutabarat from the KPK had paid a visit to Permata Hijua to collect information about SN's latest condition.
At the time, SN was conscious and was accompanied by his wife.
The KPK has handed over an arrest warrant against SN to his lawyer, Fredrich Yunadi.
"An interesting incident just now took place between the KPK and the family (of SN) and I, which was not good. After an agreement was reached for SN to be transferred to RSCM, the KPK suddenly issued a warrant stating that SN had been detained and is now under the responsibility of the KPK," Yunadi revealed.
Yunadi said neither he nor SN's family will sign the document. Yunadi said he will not recognize the detention letter.
Dozens of KPK investigators were present at the RSCM while SN was being treated there, according to Guntur Setiawan, the Golkar Party's wing organization AMPG leader.
Setiawan said he was present to safeguard SN, who is also the general chairman of Golkar Party. Setiawan said he had no knowledge if SN would again be transferred to another hospital.
SN has been summoned several times by the KPK to stand as a witness in the E-ID case or as a suspect but has mostly never met them, citing various reasons, including medical treatment at the hospital.
