REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Novel Baswedan's advocacy team said they were questioning seriousness of the police to solve their client case. In fact, they saw many irregularities occured during the investigation.

One of the irregularities was about the absence of fingerprints at the crime scene. Police only said if there was a group who lurked Novel's house and called them as 'mata elang'.

"In addition, we are worried if police will ask Novel to prove who is the intellectual actor in his case. It's so unfair because Novel is the victim," Novel's lawyer, Yati Andriyani, Monday (August 14).

According to her, it is the police's duty to uncover intellectual actors or perpetrators in this case. It was not the victim's responsibility. She was worried the investigation done as formality.

Yanti also said her team was concern the police would cornered Novel because of his statement about the involvement of police general in this case. "If it really happened, then we have strong reason to ask for the establishment of joint fact-finding team," she said.

As senior investigator KPK, Novel said he received information that a police general or a high-ranked police official was involved in the attack on him.

Team of police investigators were scheduled to meet with Novel at Indonesian Embassy in Singapore on Monday.
