REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A Golkar party's senior official Nusron Wahid has come in the defend of Nasdem Party lawmaker Viktor B Laiskodatit, who has charged with fanning hate by four opposition parties.

"No need to exaggerate. It was a speech addressed internally to Nasdam Party sympathizers and his constituents," Nusron, the Golkar' party coordinator for election campaigns for Java-Sumatra, said.

Viktor, chairman of the Nasdem faction at the Parliament, had infuriated Gerindra, PKS, Democrat and PAN for accusing them of backing up Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI), which has been banned by the government.

The government dissolved HTI for allegedly seeking to make Indonesia part of a Khilafah against the state ideology Pancasila and the Constitution.

Nusron said if those parties were truly for the state ideology Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution , the Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) and Bhineka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) they should prove it in practice not only in political jargon," he said in a statement here on Saturday.

He said the government has taken a right decision to dissolve HTI with the Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) No.2 of 2017 on mass organizations.

"HTI was clearly against Pancasila. Then on what ground ones should defend HTI," he said.

He said all political parties spoke loudly that they are defenders of Pancasila and nationalism and NKRI, but strange enough some of the parties vowed to oppose the Perppu.

"The philosophy of HTI is Khilafah. Supporting Khilafah is tantamount to not recognizing the existence of Indonesia as a sovereign state, but not more than a filial or a branch or part of the global Khilafah.

"Nothing is wrong about political parties sharing different views and criticize each other or the government, but when it comes to state philosophy and constitution all parties should be one and forget short term interest," he said.

The Khilafah teaching promoted by HTI concerned fundamental issue, but some still see the government's crack down on it as politically motivated, he said.
