REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian security officers heavily guarded the second court hearing of 25-year-old Indonesian Siti Aisyah and 28-year-old Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, who have been accused of killing Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of North Korea's leader.

The two women were wearing bulletproof vests and surrounded by fully armed police officers whose faces were covered with dark masks.

Only 40 journalists, including 14 from outside the country, were allowed to cover the hearing in the courtroom. Several other journalists had to wait outside the building.

Huong was accompanied by her new lawyer, Naran Singh.  Aisyah was accompanied by her legal team from Gooi & Azura, and an interpreter. The two women face death penalty if convicted of killing Jong Nam.

They allegedly smeared Jong Nam's face with a toxic VX nerve agent, a chemical described by the UN as a weapon of mass destruction, at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Feb 13.

Indonesia's police said Aisyah thought she was part of a prank for a comedy show, and she was not aware that it was an assassination attempt.
