REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, POSO -- Central Sulawesi Police chief Brigadier General Rudy Sufahridi has asked operation Tinombala in Poso which will expire on April 3, to be extended until July 3, 2017. "The results of meeting (in Poso police station), Operation Tinombala will be extended for another three months from the original schedule and Central Sulawesi police chief asked in the evaluation meeting of Operation Tinombala," Assistant of operation Police Chief Inspector General Unggung Cahyono said, Tuesday (March 14).
According to Unggung, extension process of operation Tinombala aimed to make residents of Poso feel safe. However police did not change the number of troops in operation Tinombala. About 1,500 joint forces of Indonesian military (TNI) and police still involved. Unggung also ensured he will not add TNI or police personnel.
While the Central Sulawesi police chief as Responsible Command of operation (PJKO) of Tinombala Task Force Brigadier Rudy Sufahriadi adding the number of fugitives as Santoso's men as many as nine people.
Central Sulawesi police chief said Tinombala Task Force will continue to pursue the fugitives. Police believed they were already weakened. However, the police chief said that smaller amount of fugitives could also be more powerful. Police felt it was difficult to arrest them, because they have the experience to avoid the pursuit. "We will continue the effort to arrest nine fugitives (DPO)," police chief said.
Inspector General Unggung Cahyono arriving by commercial flights at Kasiguncu Airport in Poso, along with his entourage then headed Poso police headquarters to conduct closed meeting with the entire Task Force of Operations Tinombala 2017 included elements of TNI.
Evaluation meeting of operation Tinombala lasted for two hours from 10.00 am to 12.00 am local time.
