REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Muhammadiyah Central Executive (PP) Chairman, Haedar Nashir, has affirmed the case of alleged religious blasphemy that involved Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as the defendant was crucial in national life. From the very begining, Muhammadiyah already trusted the case to be processed in accordance with the law. "But, the law should also be enforced," he said to Republika.co.id in Muhammadiyah Headquarters, on Tuesday (Feb 14).
Haedar warned the ongoing judicial process, judges, public prosecutors should not tamper the law with political force. He reminded all parties that the stakes was big if the law was cheated with the power of money nor any other power. He recalled it has been four months since the uproar started and it happened not only in Jakarta, but also all over the country. "The result was the same, talking on or two person(s)," he said.
Haedar revealed Muhammadiyah was tired to deal with those one or two people who had caused the uproar. Therefore, he asked everybody not to defend the perpetrator. "Muhammadiyah do not want this country is torn by a single case or one people who had issue," he said.
