Minister of Religion: The Harmony of Religious People Deserves to be Promoted Abroad

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Minister of Religious Affairs of Indonesia, Prof KH Nasaruddin Umar asked that the issue of religious harmony not only be an issue, but also a positive issue that can be promoted abroad.

“Not only minerals, not batteries, not oil, not palm oil, but what we deserve to sell abroad is also to sell the harmony of religious people,” said Prof Nasaruddin Umar when opening the event of the National Consolidation of Religious Concord Work Program 2024 at HM Rasyidi Auditorium, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jl MH Thamrin, Wednesday (6/11/2024).

He explained that Indonesia is a very plural country, but its people can live in peace. In this context, according to him, no country in the world is like Indonesia.

“There is no country like this plural Indonesia, but one that is as peaceful as Indonesia. This is a tremendous social capital, which we need to introduce to the outside. There is no country as rich, as plural as Indonesia, but as stable as Indonesia,” he said.

“So I often say, maybe it's time for the Islamic world's mecca of civilization to migrate to Indonesia,” he said.

The National Consolidation held by the Center for Religious Concord (PKUB) of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also presented two representatives, namely Special Envoy of the President for Religious Concord and Religious Facilities Development, Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman (Gus Miftah) and Deputy 6 of the Ministry of the Ministry of PMK, Prof Warsito.

Head of PKUB Department of Home Affairs of Indonesia, M Adib Abdushomad explained that this activity was held to care for and strengthen the harmony of religious people in Indonesia.

“And I think the most important role is that we should have mutual synergy and collaboration,” Adib said in his speech.

This national consolidation raised the theme of “Caring for Concord Preparing the People of the Future”. With this theme, Adib believes Indonesia will be able to become a world destination related to harmony in the future.

“This means that we are more and more confident that Indonesia, our beloved nation, is worthy, is appropriate to become a world reference and destination related to religious harmony, related to religious harmony,” he said.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs through PKUB, he continued, has also prepared a roadmap to care for harmony and prepare the faithful in the future. According to him, his side is ready to go international.

“We are ready for PKUB to go international. And it is high time that Indonesia is a country that we are proud to be an example and a great example of how to care for the connection of religious people,” Adib said.
