REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Leaders of a number of Islamic organizations that are members of Islamic People's Forum (FUI) stated their support to the submission to an inquiry by four factions in the House of Representatives regarding the pros and cons in deactivation of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as Jakarta governor while his status was defendant.
FUI appealed to the Muslims to oversee the trial of religious blasphemy case with Ahok as defendant. The trial will be continued on next Tuesday (Feb 21). "Please maintain unity and integrity by upholding the brotherhood of Islam, and be cautious against any provocation, incitement, libel and news that is not necessarily true," said the Secretary General of FUI Muhammad Al Khaththath in a written statement, on Tuesday.

FUI expected Muslims to be submissive and obedient to the commands of the clergy. "Muslims are urged not to take steps that could break the unity and the unity of Muslims," he explained.
