Police says 47 Indonesian citizens use Philippines hajj passport

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director General Crime Criminal Investigation of National Police Brigadier Agus Andrianto said of the 177 citizens who slipped to hajj from the Philippines, now most of them have landed in Manila.

So far, he said, the police has identified as many as 47 out of the 177 citizens who use passports hajj Philippines.

According Andrianto, 47 citizens who went to the Holy Land consists of 16 groups hajj Philippines. "They’re Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia," Andrianto said.

Andrianto explained the 47 Indonesian citizens knew the sheikh (Islamic cleric) in the Philippines. So with the relation, the migrant worker went with Philippines hajj quota. "They took the wrong procedure," Andrianto said.

On Monday (9/26), the police has detained five suspect working for travel agents. They offered Indonesian Muslim to went pilgrim using the Philipine hajj quota. Two other suscpects still held as witness by the Philipines authority.

They provided fake documents for Indonesian hajj pilgrims.
