REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BIAK -- The Biak Munara Wampasi (BMW) cultural festival in Biak Numfor district, Papua, to be held from July 1 to 4, 2016 will showcase Japanese traditional "katana" samurai swords from World War II (WW-II) vintage.
Local Culture and Tourism Office Head Yubelius Usior remarked here on Monday that the event, where WW-II samurai swords will be exhibited, will involve local collectors of historical objects.
"The exhibition of war relics will be open to the public at the BMW festival arena," Usior informed.
He expressed the hope that the event will attract foreign tourists to visit the island of Biak.
Usior observed that preparations for the festival to be held at Numfor island were in full swing.
"I am optimistic that the BMW Cultural Festival 2016 will help boost the local economy, and will especially benefit traders and small and micro businesses," he concluded.
