REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Communication forum of Muhammadiyah alumni students (IMM Fokal) Banten Province has supported Serang city government to enforce the regional regulation No. 2 of 2010.
The regional regulation consisted of the prevention, eradication of society’s disorder. One of the points set the restaurants allowed to open at certain times during Ramadan.
"We are encouraged to be tolerant, but we should objectively assess it," Chairman of the Focal IMM Banten Province Solihin Abas said in a press statement received Republika.co.id, Thursday (16/6).
Solihin said regional regulations are a form of Serang City's local wisdom and is a legal product, in accordance with the legislation with the spirit of regional autonomy.
"Therefore, Serang City administration expects no intervention by anyone. We believed the ulemas in Banten are not going to silent," Solihin said.
As the conception of regional autonomy and in keeping the local wisdom of Serang Banten, the outside parties asked not try to intervene. Let Banten take care its own problems and keep the social values of societies.
"The regulation applies in Serang City, not Jakarta or other areas. During this time there was no resistance from the residents of Serang in these regulations," Solihin said.
He said that since the regulation was passed in 2010, residents of Banten already understand about maintaining tolerance.
Previously, regional regulations about society’s disorder questioned after the confiscation of food stalls belonging to Saeni. Some parties believed the confiscation by satpol PP (public Order agency) was unethical.
