REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- West Java's Vice Governor Deddy Mizwar and his counterpart from China's Sichuan Province, Liu Jie, here on Monday signed a document to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of tourism promotion and science and research.

"Our commitment to this cooperation will be implemented immediately. We have signed several memoranda of understanding with other parties, but they are just written as documents," Mizwar stated.

The recently inked memorandum of understanding also paved the path for the provincial governments of West Java and Sichuan to support the development of agricultural technology, trade and investment, capacity building programs for civil servants, and arts and culture, he revealed.

Mizwar stated that during the trip to the West Java city of Bandung, his Chinese counterpart was also accompanied by two Chinese electronic companies' representatives who had expressed interest to gain more information on the investment opportunities in the Aerocity of Kertajati Airport area and creative industries.

"Thus, the visit of Sichuan Province's vice governor is aimed at intensifying our discussions on ways to develop strong ties," he noted, adding that the two provinces shared similar areas of potential that can be developed together.
