REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- As many as 25 British investors have expressed keen interest in investing in East Java after a delegation of the provincial government and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) visited the United Kingdom some time ago.
"The 25 British investors will visit East Java in several batches," a member of Kadin's expert team, Jamhadi said here on Thursday.
He said two other British investors have invested in Indonesia, but they want to expand their businesses.
The first batch of seven investors will arrive in the province in mid-May, while the second batch of 20 investors will arrive in June, he added.
He also expressed the hope that the presence of new British investors will increase British investment in Indonesia by 10 to 15 percent.
He said a series of economic policy packages that the central government has issued since September last year have attracted foreign investors to invest in Indonesia.
The province has eight new industrial estates offering direct construction investment facilities (KLIK), which are expected to attract foreign investors, he pointed out.
Several infrastructure development projects, including the Lamongan North Cost Development Program, airports, ports and toll roads are underway.
Hopefully, the facilities will support the investment climate in East Java, he said.
According to data from Kadin, British investment in East Java currently stands at US$2.5 million.
