REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The central executive board of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) confirmed on Monday that it had dismissed Fahri Hamzah from his position as a party cadre.

"We confirm that Mr. Fahri Hamzah has received the letter (dismissing him from the party) on April 3, 2016 at 07.43 p.m. He received it directly and signed it. He received the letter on April 3," PKS spokesman Dedi Supriadi said.

He said PKS President Sohibul Iman signed the letter on April 1, 2016, dismissing Fahri Hamzah as a party cadre.

Till Sunday (March 3), the party could not confirm the dismissal as he was yet to receive the letter, he said.

Based on the party's code of ethics, it could not have confirmed the move about a cadre person before he received the official intimation, he said.

Chairman of the party's legal department, Zainudin Paru, said as a matter of principle, the party sticks to this system and the rules that govern it.

Every PKS cadre must bow to the party's rules and system, regardless of their status, he said.

He said the party's decision came in view of the need to maintain the organization's discipline. It was issued after the party's tribunal went through a series of processes before taking the decision.
