REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The biggest moslem newspaper Republika won again international awards from WAN-IFRA (Association). Republika earn Asia Gold Media Award in 2016 for Best Design Front Page (best design of the home page).

The prestigious award was given during the conference WAN-Irfa in Manila, Philippines on 29 to 31 March 2016. The Republika works included in the design category homepage by displaying the front page of October 8, 2015 edition of The Front page proclaiming disaster-related smoke that hit Indonesia, especially Sumatra region. Even the front page has an influence both in Indonesia and internationally.

Editor in Chief Republika Nasihin Masha said the awards is for Best Design Front Page of WAN-IFRA for the second time. Previously, in 2009 Republika also received the same award, the issue of the late former president Soeharto. To smoke cover itself is a fourth times.

"This award we dedicate for victims of smoke, especially for children, the elderly, and who suffer from breathing. It deliberately to arouse, because 18 years of Indonesia could not face a disaster of this smoke, particularly in Sumatra and Kalimantan," said Nasihin on Wednesday.

Nasihin added this award also proves Republika quality consistent. This award is also the result of teamwork, the editorial, design and other photograph. "But this award is no meaning compared to the suffering of victims of smoke," said Nasihin.
