Indonesia to inaugurate Honorary Consulate office in Ramallah

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo has appointed Maha Abou Susheh as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia to Palestine. The appointment was announced President in an opening speech at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit at the Jakarta Convention Center on Monday.

"Let me convey that Indonesia has appointed mrs Maha Abou Susheh as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia to Palestine," President said.

President said the appointment of honorary consul become on of Indonesia concrete steps that will always stand in the forefront to support Palestinian independence.

President become chairman OIC Summit about Palestine and Al Quds Al Sharif who will certify the results of the two document, namely the resolution of the Extraordinary OIC Summit 5th and the Declaration of Jakarta.

"The summit is an important moment for the Islamic world to respond to the situation faced by Palestinian people today with concrete steps," said President.

In addition, President also announced Indonesia in the near future will inaugurate the Honorary Consulate of Indonesia office in Ramallah, Palestine. The plan to establish an Honorary Consulate of Indonesia in Ramallah first delivered during a meeting between President with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami hamdallah in the Asian-African Summit in Jakarta April 2015.
