REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- The Papua provincial administration is in the process of compiling a list of prospective candidates for the position of President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, which will be submitted to the central government.
Papua Governor, Lukas Enembe, said on Thursday that the provincial administration is currently discussing several names for President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia.
"We are considering some names, but we have not decided who will be proposed to the government," he said.
According to the governor, those who will be selected and recommended to the central government should have the capacity and potential to handle the position.
"Meanwhile, we are merely discussing the names of the candidates that are indigenous Papuans," he said.
Lukas further explained that the provincial administration has coordinated with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Human Rights, Luhut Panjaitan, on the names that will be submitted as Freeport Indonesia's President Director.
"I cannot mention the names, but there are a few names that are being selected," Lukas said.
Earlier, the governor of Papua had supported dozens of students demanding that the President Director of Freeport Indonesia should be an indigenous Papuan.
