Drug trader dies after swallowing methanphetamine

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU -- A drug dealer died after swallowing a package of methamphetamine when he saw police coming to arrest him, police said here.

Apparently BM died of overdose as his mouth was full of liquid with bubbles Rokan Hulu police chief Adj. Sr Comr Pitoyo Agung Yuwono said here on Tuesday.

Agung said Bm (36), who died three hours after his arresthad been on the police list of wanted men among drug dealers.

BM,who was from the sub-district of Ujung Batu, Rokan Hilir, worked for a private company.

He was known to be involved in illicit drug trade after the arrest of a number of his friend on Monday, Agung said.

"On the same day police arrested three other suspects in drug abuse identified as Iw, An and Ag. The three were known to biou drug from a man named Bambang," he said.

Meanwhile, an anti drug police unit of the city of Jambi in the neighboring province of Jambi arrested a man found being in possession 82 grams of methamphetamine worth hundreds of millions of rupiah on the street.

Jambi police chief Adj. Comr. Sri Kurniati said the man identified as Imron (33) had long been a police target on charge of drug trafficking.

Police arrested Imron from one of his houses on Monday after receiving a tip from the people.

He was arrested without resistance.

Imron told police that he acquired the drug from one identified as AL now included in the police list of wanted men.
