REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Drugs trafficking was no longer in many elite places. Drugs were also targeting in ordinary community and residential neighbourhoods of the lower middle-class.
Access to that illicit goods would be easier. Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission VIII Saleh Partaonan Daulay said drug trafficking in several major cities, especially in Jakarta, should not be underestimated. The drug mafia assessed braver and more open.
"It has been very threatening. The government should undertake concrete action in combating drug trafficking and the bookie," he said.
That politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN) appraised National Narcotics Agency (BNN), which became the backbone of the eradication of drugs couldn't work alone. The agency must have supports from the ministries and other institutions, including community leaders. Teachers, lecturers, head of the company, even the guards-guards in many areas in this country must be involved.
"They are the direct contact with the public. At least, they can be invited to come together to socialize about the dangers of drugs," he explained.
So far, BNN and the police have been doing a lot of things. But, in reality the drugs capuldn't be eradicated completely.
Even, recently distributions of the drugs were more frequent. The phenomenon might indicate that drugs trafficking was greater than apparatus of law enforcement in Indonesia.
"If it was true, Indonesia is truly in state of emergency over drugs," Saleh added.
