REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DAVOS -- Indonesia's exports to Switzerland shot up to US$1 billion in 2015 from only US$133 million in 2014, an official said.
Director General of National Export Expansion Nus Nuzulia Ishak said gold and silver ornaments contributed the largest or US$765 million to the total export value in 2015.
"Demand for Indonesian ornaments in Switzerland grew," Nus, who is attending a World Economic Forum in this Switzerland city, said on Wednesday night.
She said the bilateral trade favored Indonesia with a surplus of US$519 million in the first 10 months of 2015, as against a deficit of US$493 million in the same period in 2014.
She said Indonesia's imports from Switzerland were valued at US$534.6 million in the 10-months period in 2015 down 11 percent from the same period in 2014.
Imported products from that country were medical products mainly vaccines, gas turbine machines and printing ink.
