Victim bodies of KM Marina evacuated to five hospitals

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- Director of Operations and Training of National SAR Agency (Basarnas) Brigadier General (Mar) Ivan Ahmad said, 63 bodies of victims of KM Marina were evacuated to five hospitals.

"The number of victims of KM Marina that was successfully found until Thursday (24/12) at 18:00 are 103 people," he confirmed in Makassar, Friday (25/12).

Five hospitals that were used to examine the bodies of victims of KM Marina were Pinrang Hospital South Sulawesi (one body), Kolaka Hospital Southeast Sulawesi (two bodies), Siwa Hospital South Sulawesi (17 bodies), Lasusua Hospital Southeast Sulawesi (40 bodies), and Wotu Hospital (three bodies).

However, of that number, not all bodies have been identified. Forensic team from Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) of Southeast Sulawesi and South Sulawesi Police also continued to identified the bodies.

Some ships were deployed in the waters of Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi and the waters of Gulf of Bone, South Sulawesi, including KN Pacitan belonged to Basarnas, KP Bangau and fast patrol boat RB 210. KN Pacitan managed to evacuate 23 bodies of victims.

Then KP Bangau evacuated four bodies of victims (one male and three females), and RB 210 evacuated 13 bodies of victims. KM Marina carried 118 passengers and crews, consisting of 91 adults and 19 children and toddlers.
