REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Board Honorary of PAN Amien Rais firmly hoped that Indonesia ceased cooperation with PT Freeport Indonesia. According to him, Freeport has many crimes to Indonesia.
"There are some negative things that have been done by Freeport. One is from environmental aspect," he said, Monday (14/12).
The company had damaged the environment through mining waste. The waste was dumped into Arafura Sea and disrupted the balance of marine ecosystems. He stated, the waste that has been discharged into Arafura Sea has reached billions of tons.
To clarify the issue of Freeport, he also hoped that Riza Chalid could be carried in the investigation. To be able to take appropriate policy, the investigation required a thorough information and explanation of some party related.
