French scientist to examine total solar eclipse in East Halmahera

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TERNATE -- Dozens of scientists from France would visit Maba, East Halmahera, North Maluku. The scientists came to witness total solar eclipse and conduct research related to the natural event that was predicted to occur on 9th March 2016.

"The scientists from France will arrive in Maba before 9th March 2016. They will use a special aircraft to carry a variety of equipment that will be used to examine total solar eclipse," said Head of Culture and Tourism Department North Maluku, Samin Marsaoly, in Ternate, Monday (14/12).

Hundreds of tourists from various countries also expressed their desire to visit  East Halmahera to witness the total solar eclipse. He said, Culture and Tourism Department of East Halmahera has made various preparations related to the visit of the scientists and the foreign tourists.

The preparations were such as accommodation, transportation and location to watch the solar eclipse. One of the locations already prepared was in Tengah Island, not too far from Maba.

Samin said, other areas in North Maluku which also attracted many scientists and tourists from various countries to watch the total solar eclipse were Ternate and Tidore Islands.
