Police Chief: Situation of regional head elections is safe

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti monitored simultaneous local election throughout Indonesia via video conference at Police Headquarters, Wednesday (9/12), with Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Badrodin said, in general, the current situation is safe. There was no interference in the implementation of simultaneous regional head elections in 269k regions.

"A problem only occurred in Keerom, Papua. Chairman of KPPS was beating because a citizen did not stated in the DPT. Chairman of KPPS said that is not the authority of KPPS," Badrodin said, at Police Headquarters, Wednesday (9/12).

Badrodin earlier ordered all police in the region to put sniper in polling stations, to deal with rioters. Head of Public Relations of NTT Police Jules Abraham Abbas said, accordance to the command of Chief of Police, police of NTT was ready to put sniper in the elections.

"If there were rioter, the police would give a warning shot," he said, Wednesday (9/12).
