Police: 41 people die in Cipali toll road

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- West Java Regional Police recorded 41 people died in traffic accidents on Cikopo Palimanan (Cipali) toll road from 14th June to 6th December 2015. Head of Public Relations of West Java Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono, said the death toll was recorded in 90 cases of accidents at Cipali toll road.

"The number of accident was only in Tol Cipali," he said, in Bandung, Sunday (6/12).

He revealed, in addition to fatalities, there were 18 people who were seriously injured and 94 people who were slightly injured. The traffic accidents, he added, were happened in Majalengka, Indramayu, Purwakarta, Subang and Cirebon.

"Places prone of accident are in KM166-175 Line A Majalengka and KM76-85 Line B Purwakarta," he said.

Causal factors of accidents in Cipali toll road were due to drowsy drivers with accident-prone hours of 00:00 am to 06:00 am. Pudjo appealed to all drivers to check their physical condition when entering Cipali toll road.

"If you feel sleepy, you should stop and look at the rest area available. The drivers who are sleepy should take a nap to avoid injuries to themselves and other people," he explained.
