Indonesia and Thailand to combat illegal fishing

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Fisheries of Thailand, Chatchai Sarikulya, visited Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to follow up cooperation in combating illegal fishing, Friday (4/12)

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Susi Pudjiastuti, explained, visit of Minister of Fisheries of Thailand was as a commitment of the two countries in fight against illegal fishing. In fact, Susi added, Thailand has been well known for its commitment on combating crime that occurs on their sea.

"We talked about the issue of illegal fishing in which Thailand is very advanced," said Susi, after met Chatchai, Friday (4/12).

Susi stated, this cooperation should be continued and even expanded to other countries. He hoped that after this cooperation, there would be no more illegal fishing in territorial waters of both countries.

Meanwhile, Chatchai claimed to support Susi to continue the fight against illegal  fishing. He said, Thailand would continue to be committed on the issue.

"We support and hope this cooperation can be continued," he said.
