REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CILACAP -- Minister of fisheries and marine resources Susi Pudjiastuti has said that she would continue sinking foreign ships found illegally fishing in the country's waters.
"The sinking of ships will continue. The law is still in place. We will change the policy only if the law is replaced," she said here on Thursday evening.
She made the statement after attending the inauguration of Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking and groundbreaking of Cilacap Blue Sky Program by Vice President Jusuf Kalla at Pertamina Refinery Unit IV in Cilacap, Central Java.
Regarding target of growth of the fishery sector in 2016 minister Susi said she hoped it would reach above eight percent.
"The growth is expected to be more than 8 percent. Now it is already 8.6 percent and so in 2016 it must be higher than that," she said.
Since taking office minister Susi in cooperation with the navy has sunk 12 fish poaching vessels.
Despite criticisms minister Susi said she would continue the policy in line with the mandate of Law Number 45 of 2009 on fishery.
