REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir continues to innovate to advance Indonesian football. In addition to forming a strong Indonesian national team at various age levels, improving the quality of referees, and competitions, PSSI has now established Garuda Academy.
Garuda Academy is an effort to build Indonesia's football ecosystem for the long term. This was revealed by Erick Thohir on his social media.
“Through Garuda Academy, we will give young people and sports professionals the opportunity to immerse themselves in Sports Management through a curriculum directly supported by FIFA and AFC,” he wrote.
“We are working to build Indonesia's football ecosystem for the long term. With Garuda Academy, we want to develop and improve the quality of sports management in Indonesia, especially in football.”
Erick added that FIFA Campus and AFC Academic Centre of Excellence, will be present to provide relevant learning to develop sports management in Indonesia.
Garuda Academy is a program for Sports Management fully supported by FIFA and AFC. The Garuda Academy program will strengthen the Indonesian football ecosystem, not only on the inside but also off the field.
Erick also stated that the program will give active players, former players, and young Indonesians who have a great interest in the field of sports management.
“Garuda Academy Program will provide opportunities for players, former Indonesian national team players, and young Indonesian generations who have a great interest to delve into management in the field of sports,” explained the man, who is also the Minister of SOE.
“We will conduct a selection of prospective scholarship recipients who will later be supported by the LPDP to study sports science at a number of the world's leading universities,” he said.
