Jokowi asks for acceleration of power plants and oil refineries construction

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked for acceleration of power plants and oil refineries construction. He considered, the construction was very possible to be accelerated since there were a lot of investors who are ready to invest.

"It's about our readiness to provide speed of service, so that this opportunity will not be lost," said President Jokowi before starting a Limited Meeting with Pertamina and PLN at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Thursday (3/12).

 

Jokowi also hoped all parties prepared to take advantage on the opportunities. In the end of 2019, Jokowi added, the electrification ratio was targeted to reach 100 percent.

 

Oil refinery construction that was not built for more than 30 years also could be established. So that at the end of 2019, both in Java and outside Java would have oil refineries.

"I asked all construction to be accelerated, both by the government and state-owned companies," said the President.

The limited meeting was attended by Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Resources Rizal Ramli, Minister of SOEs Rini Sumarno, State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, PLN President Director Sofyan Basir, and Pertamina President Director Dwi Soetjipto.
