Investment of APEC countries in Indonesia reaches 76 billion US dollars

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANILA -- Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) stated the realization of investment of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) countries dominated the investment flows to Indonesia. In the last five years, the top 20 countries of APEC were contributed to 77.5 percent with a value of 76 billion US dollars.

Head of BKPM, Franky Sibarani, said the top five countries that realized the investment in Indonesia in the last five years, were members of APEC. The five countries are Singapore, Japan, USA, South Korea, and Malaysia.

"This shows that relevance of investment in APEC economic cooperation forum is very large," Franky said, in a statement, Tuesday (17/11).

Franky explained, total realization of the five countries reached 67.2 billion US dollars or 68 percent of total investment realization from the top 20 countries. According to him, the realization of investment from APEC countries showed a positive trend.

From the distribution of location, investment from APEC countries were still centralized in Java with the proportion of 62.4 percent. The investment value of the APEC countries into Java reached 43 billion US dollars.

Meanwhile, the majority of investments were in the secondary sector with a share reached 41 percent, followed by the tertiary sector by 36 percent and primary sector by 24 percent.
