REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a new period of funding through the Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) for research on climate change, education, and wildlife trade.
"The United States is pleased to help develop a network of scientists in Indonesia," Deputy Chief of Mission Brian McFeeters noted in a press release received here on Thursday.
According to the statement, the submission of funding applications for scientists has been opened, and proposals are due on January 15, 2016,
PEER is a competitive awards program that invites scientists from developing countries to support research on key development areas of importance to the USAID.
PEER is conducted under a partnership with parties that receive funding from the United States government and certain private parties.
USAID's PEER program has already awarded US$1.6 million in research funding to 37 Indonesian researchers.
In 2015, funds were allocated to seven Indonesian research projects that help sustain marine biodiversity, protect the environment, and promote education in Indonesia.
"The value of PEER can not only be gauged by the discovery of new data and knowledge that is valuable for Indonesia and other countries but also by the increase in capacity of research and development in Indonesia," McFeeters emphasized.
To apply for the next period of awards, a two-page pre-proposal in English should be submitted by January 15, 2016.
At the end of February, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal in April 2016.
