REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo asked the interest of People's Business Credit (KUR) to be lowered from 12 percent to 9 percent. President hoped that the reduce of the interest could stimulate the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

"Next year we expect the interest can lower to nine percent," the President said, when opening a closed meeting, at the Presidential Office, Monday (5/10).

Jokowi claimed to have received reports that the loan disbursed to the entrepreneurs of SMEs was still low. In fact, the total available funds of KUR were Rp 30 trillion.

"In this short time, I want that Rp 30 trillion funds can be distributed, so that it can boost the economy," Jokowi added.

The President wanted that the loan of KUR scheme can be facilitated. So that KUR could not only be accessed by the production enterprises, but also by trade.

"I hope all banks, all the ministers, can coordinate with the Financial Services Authority so that there is leniency rules to support the KUR program," he said.
