Aviastar aircraft found, victims can not be identified yet

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- Chief of Luwu Police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Adex Yudiswan, who led the search of Aviastar Twin Otter aircraft, said the aircraft was found in Latimojong Mountains, Pajaja Hill, Ulusalu Village, Luwu, South Sumatera. However, he stated, that the search team has not been able to identify the victims.

"The condition of the victims can not be identified, information about the identity of the victims later will be delivered by DVI team," said Adex Yudiswan, via telephone in Luwu, Monday (5/10).

He said that evacuation of the victims could not be done today (Monday) because they still had to coordinate with all of the rescue team. He added. the evacuation process will be carried out the next day (Tuesday) by SAR teams.

"The evacuation will be done tomorrow," he said.

Adex revealed that the search process of Aviastar aircraft along with several rescue squads and local residents had been conducted since Saturday (3/10) or a day after the incident. Luwu Police had prepared all the supplies and equipment for evacuation process.

He explained, before finding the aircraft, he and his team was already down the mountain and hill for two days. He confirmed that seven passengers and three crew members of the aircraft were found dead.

Aviastar aircraft 7503 lost contact at around 14:36 ​​pm on the way to Makassar, 11 minutes after taking off from Andi Jemma Airport, Masamba, Friday (2/10).
