REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DOHA -- President Joko Widodo said the government was currently focusing to make improvements in food issues and infrastructures.

"Our concentration ahead is to solve the food problem, then infrastructure, such as construction of Trans Sumatra toll roads," said Jokowi during a meeting with the Indonesian community living in Qatar, Tuesday (15/9).

He stated that Indonesian severe challenges were in the economic field because the majority of the goods were imported, so that the weakening of rupiah against the US dollar was increasingly felt.

"We actually have potential power to accomplish the problem. If the problem is resolved met (resolved), then there would be 'no' problem in the exchange rate," said the President.

"I have to say, we want to do transformation from production to consumption, but it takes time," he added.

Although it took time, the President confirmed that indeed the transformation should be done so that Indonesia has a food self-sufficiency. Likewise, the development of infrastructure that must be done immediately.

"For example, trans-Sumatra toll roads. If it does not immediately start, the land acquisition will be more expensive," said the President.

The railway line in Sulawesi also would begin this month. While in Papua, the construction of the railway will begin in the second half of next year.
