REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The economic slowdown is feared to give impact on the numbers of tourists visit to West Java. Therefore, tourism agent are expected have more innovation to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
The Head of Tourism and Culture of West Java, Nunung Sobari, said that she worried about the economic slowdown that will make people's purchasing power weakens. This potentially lower tourists arrival to West Java.
"We hope there is no tourist arrivals slowdown, because the tourism sector was resilient," said Nunung, Monday (24/8).
Nunung said, domestic tourists will be the mainstay. The arrival of domestic tourist this year is expected to reach 40 million people. While the target of number of foreign tourists arrival this year is about 800,000 to 1 million people.
Nunung hoped, the weakening of the rupiah will push the number of foreign tourists arrivals. "Current conditions are very favorable to them," she added.
Earlier, the Central Bureau of Statistics released a number of visits of foreign tourists to West Java n June reached 15,423 people. This amount has decreased by 18.89 percent compared to the same period last year.
The foreign tourists were from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, United States, Britain, the Netherlands, France, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, China, India, the Philippines and Germany.
