Government to deport 6,300 foreigners

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Justice and Human Rights has deported 6,300 foreigners during the first half of this year.

Director General of Immigration, Ronny F Sompie, said the foreigners were violated the residence permit in Indonesia, including those who worked as illegal foreign workers.

"The Illegal foreign workers is very harmed," said Ronny, Tuesday (25/8).

Furthermore, the former Bali's police chief also described, there are 120 immigration offices in Indonesia that cooperate to supervise foreigner in Indonesia. Citizens are asked to take an active role in providing information if there are foreigners who violated the residence permit.

Most of the deported foreigners came from Bangladesh, Myanmar, and China. The rest were Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, the United States, Australia, and European countries.

The existence of these illegal foreign workers made Indonesia lose foreign exchange earnings.
