REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SENTANI -- The Hirosi Nature Lovers Club (CPA Hirosi) will involve some 70 people in the red-and-white expedition team to climb up the Cycloop mounting starting August 14, 2015.
CPA Hirosi spokesman Hirosi Marshal Suebu said here on Tuesday that the expedition team will fly red-and-white flag on top of the mounting on August 17 to mark the 70th anniversary of Indonesia's independence day.
"We will fly the red and white flag on top of the Cycloop Mountain on August 17 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day, Suebu remarked.
He noted that some 70 climbers comprising the general public, youth, and nature lovers will commence scaling the mountain on August 14 in a bid to hoist the flag on August 17, the Independence Day.
"Our mission to climb the Cycloop Mountain and to fly the red and white flag atop it is to declare that the present and future generations of Papua will remain in the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)," he affirmed.
It has become a ritual and a necessity for every family in Indonesia to raise the flag on August 17 every year to commemorate the independence.
"The expedition this year is participated in by 70 people and last year it was 69 because the adjust the number of participants with the age of the independence day's anniversary," Suebu said.
He expressed hope that the participants could learn a lot from the nature while climbing up the Cycloop Mountain to raise the red-and-white flag of Indonesia.
"We hope the participants of the red-and-white expedition team will know something about nature because the nature provides all kinds of knowledge," CPA Hirosi spokesman stated.
