REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- A six-member team of the Health Ministry assessed Dr. M. Soewandhie Regional General Hospital in Surabaya as part of the process to certify it as an educational hospital.
The chief of the team, Dr. Ina Rosalina Dadan, S. P. A, M. Kes, M. H. Kes, said here on Friday that members of the team comprised officials of the Health Ministry, academics and practitioners.
"If we find something wrong, we will instruct the management of the hospital to make changes posthaste. If everything is in order, we will soon issue a permit declaring it an educational hospital," Dr. Dadan affirmed in a meeting with Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini.
She added that since 1998, Dr. M. Soewandhie Regional General Hospital has served as a center for junior and senior doctors to study.
As they solve patients' cases, their knowledge of the medical sciences improves.
Therefore, Dr. Dadan pointed out, the ministry is taking the responsibility of accrediting the hospital as an educational one.
Moreover, Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini stated that as the city has many universities with medical schools, junior doctors have a great chance of improving their skills.
"One cannot learn from theory alone. They need concrete case studies in the field. Doctors need to spend much of their time in hospitals," she remarked.
