REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI - Mayor of Bekasi Rahmat Effendi instructed all private hospitals in the area to allocate 10 percent of its maximum capacity for poor patients.
"I've asked directly to the manager of a private hospitals in order to provide 10 percent of their capacity of third class services at the hospital to accommodate quota for poor families," said Rahmat Effendi in Bekasi on Sunday (5/6).
It was said Rahmat when an audience with the board of directors Gobal Awal Bros Hospital Bekasi in his office.
According to Rahmat, the financing of healthcare for the poor in the local area are now guaranteed by the local government health card program and a Certificate of Letter of Declaration of Poverty (SKTM).
"At the moment the patient bill payment SKTM (Letter of Declaration of Poverty) Health Card and the longest has been paid in a month," he said.
According to him, the allocation of space capacity of private hospital care for poor patients was much needed given the availability of similar services in hospitals has been limited.
"With the limitations of Bekasi City Regional Hospital, the availability of the third class ward 10 percent is expected to provide improved health services in Bekasi," he said.
Rahmat notes, this time at least 32 private hospitals are operating in 12 local district.
"If each of you will allocate 10 percent of the ward for poor patients, that would be very helpful," he said.
He hopes, no more patients have ongoing pain and remain to be untreated in Bekasi. "If necessary, I ask that patients and SKTM Health Card is given the best service," he said.
Rahmat also claimed to have set up strict sanctions for hospitals that refuse poor patients with these requirements.
"I will act firmly on hospitals that reject Health Card and SKTM. If they reject those who are SKMTN patients I'm not going to dismiss this issue lightly but take it very seriously and I will revoke the Hospitals’ permissions of their operations,” he said.
