Balitbangkes of Ministry of Health says that the patient suspected for Ebola in Madiun and Kediri had tested negative

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes) of Ministry of Health stated that the patient suspected for Ebola in Madiun and Kediri had tested negative. The test was conducted for the eight samples.

Head of Balitbangkes Tjandra Yoga Aditama said that based on Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test, the samples showed no band. "It means that they are negative for Ebola," said Aditama on Sunday (2/11).

Earlier, two residents of Madiun and Kediri were suspected of having contracted Ebola after returning from Liberia, an Ebola-affected countries. Shortly after they arrived in Soekarno-hatta International Airport, the suspects along with other migrant workers underwent a quarantine procedure. Port Health Office stated that none of them had an illness.

However, several days after the checkup, two migrant workers suffered high fever. They were admitted to hospital for treatment. The patients' blood samples were taken and sent to Balitbangkes laboratory.
