REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAMBI -- Indonesia will hold the Community Care Kerinci Lake Festival in Jambi Province on Thursday, July 30, in an effort to showcase the local culture.
Chief of Tourism of Culture, Tourism, Sports and Youth Service for Kerinci District Adra Nemires stated here on Wednesday the festival will feature local activities such as a bamboo flute contest that is popular among the Jambi people.
"The administration of Kerinci District will hold various programs to enliven the festival. We will organize a bamboo flute competition in Siulak Market of Gunung Kerinci Sub-district," Adra remarked, adding that the festival will be held from July 30 to August 3, 2015.
The festival will be inaugurated by Jambi Governor Hasan Basri Agus.
Several activities scheduled to be held on the inauguration day include a cultural parade having the participation of 16 sub-districts in Jambi along with mass traditional dance and unique performances by the people from the 16 sub-districts.
On July 31, the committee will also hold a cultural art competition such as rebana and other percussion arts. On August 1, the committee will hold Rangguk dance competition and Parno Adat competition.
"The bamboo flute competition will be held on August 2 in Siulak Market and will have the participation of performers from all sub-districts in Kerinci District," Adra stated.
Several local civil servants, village chiefs, and educational leaders will attend the event.
The administration will also hold an expo of micro, small and medium enterprises to develop the local economy.
