KPK examines Muhaimin on Athletes' Village case

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned Muhaimin for questioning in a corruption case of Athletes' Village. The man who works as a civil servant (PNS) and lecturer was examined as a witness to a suspect Rizal Abdullah (RA).

"Iskandar will be examined as a witness for RA," said Head of Reporting and Publication of KPK, Priharsa Nugraha, on Monday, May 18.

Beside Muhaimin, the anti-corruption agency also questioned former marketing manager of PT Duta Graha Indah, El Idris, who is also a convict of the same case. PT DGI is a company owned by former Democratic Party treasurer, Muhammad Nazaruddin.

KPK had arrested Rizal as a suspect in the alleged construction corruption of Athletes Pension and Multipurpose Building in South Sumatra on 2010-2011. During the project, Rizal served as Head of Department of Public Works of Bina Marga South Sumatra Province and also served as Chairman of the Development Committee of Athletes Pensions and Multipurpose Building.

Rizal allegedly was inflating the prices which caused state losses of up to 25 billion IDR. In this case, KPK also has ensnared a number of parties namely Nazaruddin, Angelina Sondakh, Mindo Rosalina Manulang, El Idris and Wafid Muharram.

KPK thought Rizal was violating Article 2, paragraph 1 or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 about Corruption Eradication Jo Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
