ICW says regional police delaying investgation of corruption case

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A survey by the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) listed 10 regional police delaying investigations of the largest number of corruption cases from going to the process of prosecution in 2010-2014.

"Topping the list is North Sumatra police keeping 30 corruption cases involving Rp94.6 billion in state fund from going to the prosecution office, ICW analyst Wana Alamsyah said.

Coming second is East Java with 22 cases causing a loss of Rp14.8 billion to the state , followed by Aceh police with 21 cases causing a loss of Rp133.6 billion to the state, and South Sulawesi police with 16 cases causing a loss of Rp22.3 billion to the state, Central Java police with 16 causes causing a loss of Rp22.3 billion.

Other five regional police are those of Bengkulu with 15 cases causing a loss of Rp15.1 billion ; West Java police with 15 cases causing a loss of Rp31.1 billion to the state, East Kalimantan, East Nusatenggara and North Sulawesi each with 11 cases and losses to the state of Rp122.4 billion, Rp7.5 billion and Rp42.2 billion respectively.
