REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) admitted that they got information about the withdrawal of professional certification allowance of 20 teachers in the area of Serang, Banten.

According to Director of Teachers and Education Personnel of Basic Education (P2TK) Elementary Education (Dikdas) of Kemendikbud Sumarna Surapranata, that decision is reasonable.

"It is naturally if their professional allowance withdrawn, “ said Pranata to Republika on Monday, May 11.

Previously, the Department of Education and Culture (Dindikbud) in Serang made withdrawals of certification allowances for teachers who will perform the Umrah or Hajj. This decision also raises a lot of opposition from various quarters.

About this, Pranata stated that the decision is reasonable. Allowance is intended to provide support for teacher performance in a number of funds and time specified.

Pranata explained teachers have a duty to teach with specific amount of time. According to him, the calculation of the number of days that used them in teaching fit into their professional allowance. So, teachers are not entitled to receive the allowance if they do not conduct any obligation to teach in schools.

"Professional allowances are different with basic salary," said Pranata.

According to him, teachers will still get a basic salary even if they do leave. However, the particulars of the professional allowance funds are different concepts with the basic salary.

"So, there is a separate calculation for whether or not receiving the professional allowance," he said.
